Tallinn Architecture Biennale Urban Tour

The Tallinn Architecture Biennale (TAB) is an international architecture and urban-planning forum organised by the Estonian Centre of Architecture. TAB 2013 was held from September 4–30, 2013. The topic of this year’s Biennale – Recycling Socialism – explored and studied socialist and modernist spaces and ideas. There are four main events at the core of the Biennale: the Symposium, the Curators’ Exhibition, the Vision Competition, and the Architecture Schools’ Exhibition. Numerous side-events complement the main programme: the TAB Lounge, publications, installations, films, lectures, discussions, guided tours, presentations by universities, parties, and a lot more.

For the 2013 TAB I was asked to lead a guided tour around some of the key Soviet era buildings and districts in Tallinn (12 September 2013).

On the way we visited Lasnamäe and Mustamäe – two of the largest mikrorayons – Kalev sportshall, Pirita, Balti jaam and some other places worth recycling! Besides the tour I also presented the book on monumental paintings at TAB's club.
